Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is a fantastic place to live. We have great food, shopping a fantastic trade fair decent housing prices, ski resorts, spa resorts, and plenty of fun things to do. I work part time for a tree service company based in Waukesha County and used to live in MIlwaukee, so I’ve tried out many restaurants. I can say for a fact one of the best ways to enjoy the city is to try out the many different restaurants here. There are quite a few restaurant options, from elegant fine dining to historical, ethnic establishments.

Here are some fantastic restaurants in Milwaukee, perfect for a special night out with your significant other that will make you feel right at home here in Wisconsin!

Mader’s Restaurant

Described as the “#1 Rated German Restaurant in Milwaukee” by Trip Advisor, and with a wonderous track record backed by hundreds of positive reviews, Mader’s Restaurant is an excellent place to check out. Founded in 1902, Mader’s serves a variety of authentic German dishes, including Sauerbraten, Weiner Schnitzel, Pork Shank, and Apple Strudel. The bar serves plenty of German beers and beverages as well. The restaurant itself is very family-friendly, with numerous fun events for both kids and adults. You can also rent out the restaurant for a private dining event.

Carnevor

Carnevor is a premier fine-dining steakhouse in downtown Milwaukee. Established in 2006, the restaurant is now one of the most “critically acclaimed fine dining restaurant destinations, consistently topping year-end ‘Best Of’ lists.” As their name suggests, Carnevor serves a wide range of beef cuisine, with a wine selection consisting of over 785 different brands. The steakhouse offers a delightful atmosphere, perfect for a night with your significant other. They also host a variety of events and allow private dining parties for cocktail hours or formal dinners.

Zarletti

Zarletti is an exquisite modern Italian, fine dining restaurant located in downtown, Milwaukee. The restaurant serves an extensive range of Italian and Italian-inspired cuisine, including Antipasti appetizers, Minestre soup selections, Insalate, Panini’s, Sandwiches, and Pasta (there are plenty of vegan or vegetarian-friendly options available, too). Zarletti is an excellent choice if you’re craving some Italian food and want a quiet night out on the town!

Bacchus – A Bartolotta Restaurant

Bacchus is a chain of Bartolotta restaurants, specializing in contemporary American cuisine. The chain serves ravioli, salads, soups, dinner entrees, crispy shrimp appetizers, fish, lobster tagliatelle, seasonal dishes, and a variety of other dishes. Bacchus also has vegan and vegetarian-friendly dishes available as well. Bacchus is primarily a fine dining establishment, with a huge wine selection and three-course meals.

Onesto

Onesto, which means “honest” in Italian, is a modern Italian restaurant with authentic cuisine. Onesto serves plenty of delicious food, including Burrata or Honey Roasted Bruschetta appetizers, cheese and meat boards, salads, pasta, fish, and more authentic Italian options. The restaurant also has a massive wine and cocktail collection, with bottled and tap beers available as well. Onesto allows private party rentals, weddings and rehearsals, business dinners, and events.

The Capital Grille

With an elegant and sophisticated atmosphere, The Capital Grille is an excellent restaurant for those looking for a classy evening. The restaurant serves dry-aged steaks, fish, soups, salads, burgers, sandwiches, and boasts a “world-class” wine selection. The Capital Grille is a fabulous place for hosting events, such as a reception, wedding dinner, or just general private dining. Each private event booked with them comes with a personal event coordinator, custom menus, valet parking, and other perks most places don’t offer.

Story Hill BKC

Story Hill BKC is a restaurant and wine shop with American-inspired food dishes. This delightful little restaurant-shop hybrid has three distinct menus: weekday lunch & weekend brunch, happy hour, and a dinner & dessert menu.

For breakfast dishes, you have plenty of tasty start-your-day choices, including crepes, baked French toast bread pudding, Greek yogurt panna cotta, and avocado toast. For lunch, they mostly offer salads and sandwiches, including smoked duck & apple salad, a sirloin steak sandwich, a crayfish roll, and roasted cauliflower salad. Their dinner menu is quite extensive, with plenty of options! As a restaurant and wine shop, Story Hill BKC also sells “hard-to-find wines, growlers of draft beer to go, and regional and artisanal liquors.” Private dining events and custom reservations are available upon request.

Amilinda

Amilinda is a Spanish and Portuguese inspired restaurant. A unique aspect of Amilinda is their rotating menu, with changing specialty meals provided by their chef, Gregory León. The restaurant offers a refreshing palate compared to many other restaurants in Milwaukee. Each meal begins with your choice of starter, and their dinners consist of roasted chicken, rabbit, octopus, beef tongue, and vegetarian options.

To top it all off, the in-house pastry chef crafts a plethora of delicious dessert choices. Amilinda prides itself on delivering an exceptional dining experience with chefs that care deeply about pleasing customers with delicious meals! The restaurant allows private dining events and reservations, though both require an approval process.

Tavo’s Signature Cuisine

Tavo’s is a Mexican-Latin American fusion restaurant, providing “fresh authentic Mexican dishes with the infusion of other Latin American flavors.” The restaurant is family-owned and run, and boasts many original recipes passed down through generations. They serve “Signature Plates,” which include veggie tacos, house shrimp tacos, pork spare ribs, chile enogada, and house fish or shrimp enchiladas. Other dinner items include gorditas, tacos, sopes, mole rojo, house chile relleno, camarones a la diabla, and a lot more delicious fusion options. Tavo’s also serves breakfast items, lunch dishes, dessert dishes, and plenty of Mexican-Latin America-inspired drinks.
